BMW Speed Limit Info activation: check the camera first

This remote coding service enables BMW Speed Limit Info (option 8TH) on compatible vehicles equipped with a KAFAS or KAFAS2 camera. It is not suitable for KAFAS4. Send the full VIN privately before ordering so the installed equipment can be checked.

What SLI adds

After a compatible activation, the current detected speed limit can be shown in the instrument cluster and, when the vehicle has one, the Head-Up Display. The system uses the vehicle camera and existing BMW data to assist the driver; it does not replace road signs or the driver's responsibility to observe the actual limit.

Temporary signs, poor visibility, road works or incomplete map data can affect what is displayed. The result also depends on the vehicle's existing hardware and software.

How to identify the required camera

A camera housing near the rear-view mirror is a useful clue, but appearance alone is not a reliable compatibility test. KAFAS, KAFAS2 and KAFAS4 support different coding paths. We therefore confirm the VIN and, when necessary, read the control-unit identification during the remote session.

• KAFAS or KAFAS2: may be eligible for this factory-style coding procedure.
• KAFAS4: excluded from this product.
• No suitable camera: software coding cannot add the missing hardware.

Factory coding, not an emulator

This service uses the compatible functions already supported by the BMW control units. It does not install a third-party emulator or an additional module. That distinction matters: an emulator creates its own simulated speed-limit signal, while this procedure codes the vehicle's supported factory system.

What you need for the remote session

• A Windows 10 or Windows 11 laptop with AnyDesk installed
• A reliable ENET-to-OBD cable
• A strong, stable internet connection
• Stable vehicle voltage for the entire session

Session and final checks

1. Send the VIN privately and confirm compatibility before payment.
2. Connect the laptop to the vehicle with the ENET cable at the agreed time.
3. We identify the camera/control units and apply the compatible coding remotely.
4. After the restart, we verify the cluster and HUD display where fitted.

Coding cannot repair a faulty camera, wiring problem or calibration error. Existing driver-assistance faults should be diagnosed before activation. Future dealer programming may also change third-party coding.
