Product Description
BMW SOS Emergency Call warning: diagnose before coding it out
This remote service can remove the SOS Emergency Call Malfunction warning from the dashboard of compatible BMW F- and G-Series vehicles. It is important to understand the scope: coding can suppress the warning, but it does not repair the emergency-call system or restore a failed telematics function.
Why the warning appears
The message may be triggered by several different faults, including a discharged or failed backup battery, damaged wiring or antenna connections, a communication problem, or a defective telematics control unit. A replaced or removed module and some retrofit configurations can also leave the vehicle expecting equipment that no longer responds.
The fault should be diagnosed before deciding what to do. When repair is practical, replacing the failed component and clearing the stored fault is the preferred solution because it preserves the intended emergency function.
What coding out actually changes
For an eligible vehicle, the configuration is adjusted so the dashboard no longer reports the unavailable SOS function. This does not fix the battery, wiring, antenna or telecommunication box. Depending on the original fault and vehicle configuration, automatic or manual emergency calling may remain unavailable after the warning has disappeared.
That limitation has a real safety consequence. The vehicle owner should choose this option only after understanding that removing a warning is not the same as restoring the system. Local inspection, insurance or legal requirements may also apply.
Compatibility check
Send the full VIN privately before ordering. We check the model series and installed equipment, then confirm whether remote coding is an appropriate option. Cars with unresolved communication faults or unstable voltage may require local diagnosis first.
What you need
- A Windows 10 or Windows 11 laptop with AnyDesk installed
- A reliable ENET-to-OBD cable
- A strong, stable internet connection
- Stable vehicle voltage throughout the session
How the remote session works
- We confirm the VIN, vehicle series and requested outcome.
- You connect the laptop to the car with the ENET cable.
- We identify the relevant control units and review any communication issue that prevents safe coding.
- For a compatible vehicle, the warning configuration is changed and the dashboard is checked after restart.
Do not disconnect the cable or switch off the vehicle while coding is in progress. A future dealer programming session or replacement telematics module can require the configuration to be reviewed again.
