EntryNav2 CarPlay and maps: identify the unit before ordering

This combined service activates Apple CarPlay and supplies a compatible navigation map update for selected BMW F- and G-Series vehicles with an EntryNav2 head unit. EntryNav2 is not NBT EVO or MGU, even when the menus look similar, so identification comes before payment.

How to confirm EntryNav2

Send the VIN privately and a clear photo from Navigation, Options, Settings, Position & Version History, Version Information. EntryNav2 commonly uses the WAY map family, but the installed head unit and its software must still be verified. A VIN shows the factory configuration and may not reveal a unit that was replaced later.

CarPlay hardware requirements

EntryNav2 CarPlay requires a usable WLAN/Wi-Fi connection path. The head unit must have the compatible WLAN port and the vehicle needs a suitable Wi-Fi antenna. Software activation cannot create a missing port or antenna. If the hardware is absent, it must be added before wireless CarPlay can connect reliably.

Common incompatibilities

• The car actually has NBT, NBT EVO or MGU rather than EntryNav2.
• The WLAN port or Wi-Fi antenna is missing or faulty.
• The requested map region does not match the installed map family.
• The head unit was replaced, modified or already has a communication fault.
• The ENET, laptop or internet connection is unstable.

What the package includes

No physical USB drive is shipped. “Newest” means the latest compatible release confirmed for that system and region, not one universal map package for every vehicle.

What you need

• A reliable ENET-to-OBD cable
• A Mac or Windows 10/11 laptop
• A strong, stable internet connection and access to the delivery email
• Stable vehicle voltage throughout the activation

The supplied Feature Installer should be obtained only from the trusted delivery source. Security software should be paused only if it blocks the verified tool and should be enabled again after the session.

Order of work

1. Confirm VIN, EntryNav2 unit, WLAN hardware, map family and region.
2. Prepare the laptop, ENET cable, internet connection and stable voltage.
3. Complete CarPlay activation and test phone pairing, audio and reconnection.
4. Download the correct map package and follow the separate update instructions.

On a prepared vehicle, the activation step may take about five minutes. The map download and installation are separate and normally take longer.
